Various Steels

According to TMT Steel Bars Manufacturers: To understand the TMT steel bar better, you need to know the other three steel types and their application.

Mild steel bar: With a low tensile strength and ease of production, mild steel bars are used in the fabrication of steel structures for use in construction projects. Since they contain less carbon and silicon than other materials, their tensile strength is lower. They have a plain surface, and the round portion has a diameter ranging from 6 to 50 mm. They are easily bendable, which enables the workers to safely cut the rod into pieces.

Deformed bars: Deformed steel bar has been developed with typical ductility and is used in the infrastructure, commercial, and residential sectors. These steel bars typically range in size from 9 to 12 metres. Depending on their weight, this bar's diameter varies. The bar's surface has lugs, ribs, or other deformations that improve concrete's grip and maintain a solid bond between the two parts.

Cold Twisted Bars: Cold twisting is a manufacturing process that hardens and twists bars while they are still cold. However, due to the presence of torsional stress in the rebar, twisting can result in surface flaws on steel bars. When an object is being twisted, a torque is applied, which creates torsional stress.

TMT Bar: the fundamentals TMT bar goes through a metallurgical process that combines a thermal process with a mechanical or plastic deformation process. The process by which these bars are made is known as "thermo mechanical treatment," or TMT. Compression or rolling are examples of mechanical deformation processes, and heat treatment, water quenching, and cooling are all included in the thermal deformation process.

The hot rolling process, which passes heated iron billets through rollers of progressively smaller diameter, is the first step in the production of TMT bars. A microcontroller with a controlled quenching chamber, where temperature gradient travels from the core to the surface, cools the bars with water after the hot rolling process is complete.
